Day 12: A beautiful ride from Libby to Rexford, MT

I got an early start (for me) and was on the road by 07:30. The first 15 miles were pedaling on the east side of the beautiful Kootenai River. Then I crossed a bridge to take a shortcut which would shave 3 – 4 miles off my trip at the expense of more and higher hills. I’m still not sure I made the right decision- I had 45 miles of 300′ – 1,000′  hills all into a headwind. The last two hills were each 1,000′ and left me just gassed. But,  Julie and Andrew gave me a little waterproof/shockproof bluetooth bike speaker  for an early birthday present and I just love it! On tough days like this, music just completely changes my mood- in a positive way…   Anyway the 45 miles were on the east side of lake Kooscanusa which was formed when Libby dam was built on the Kootenai River. I saw a doe and two spotted fawns and a big red fox while grinding up the endless hills. I am staying in a WS house in Rexford (with no Wi-Fi and no cell service) so am using the Frontier Bar to update the blog and, of course, rehydrate. Daily mileage: 63, total miles: 656.
