Day 19: Riding with a beautiful tailwind- record daily mileage and I went over 1,000 trip miles today!

Since I had a short ride (about 45-50 miles) into Harlem today, I slept in a bit and had an extra cup of coffee with my McDonalds pancake breakfast. I rode out of Havre around 08:30 with a very nice tailwind that increased in intensity throughout the morning. Even with a snack/coffee stop, I was going to arrive in Harlem, my destination for the evening, well before noon. So, I called my trusty support team, Janet, and asked her if she could change 4 nights of motel reservations so I could keep riding. Note, she just made the reservations the previous evening- and did have some difficulty with a couple of them…Anyway, she came through like she always does and I continued pedaling another 45-50 miles to the following nights stop in Malta, MT! I am now 2 days ahead of my tentative schedule! Not a lot of photos today because I was either pedaling like a madman downwind or fighting a scary, treacherous cross wind. The landscape is much softer now- no more wheat fields and it is much greener with more rivers and hills. Daily mileage: 92, trip miles: 1,078. 

Riding out of Havre- last of the wheat fields and you can see the Bear Paw mountains in the background to the south:

Sheep! I stopped to look at the sheep (don’t ask me why…) and the dog immediately starting barking and rounding up the sheep and moving them away from me. You can see how tightly bunched they are. It was a very impressive display!

The Milk River- it doesn’t make me wish I had my fly rod but it looks like a great river for tubing:
