The Pork Tornados are playing tonight!

We just finished s rather short, hot, breezy ride and camp is abuzz- the Pork Tornados are playing tonight in Emmetsburg! Even though they are playing at 8:45, I will be there. FYI, I’ve been getting up at 5:00 am and heading out by 6:30. I’ve also been asleep by 9:30 pm… So today we stopped at a farm about 12 miles out and had 6 Kris cakes (big Iowan pancakes), 4 sausages and tang for breakfast- delicious! Along the route we also had cinnamon rolls, vodka lemonade, Iowa Craft Beer, Beekman ice cream (raspberry this time), smoked macaroni and cheese w/ bacon on top and a big grilled cheese sandwich. Tomorrow I’m hitting Mr. Pork Chop. It was a nice day of riding- hot and breezy but not very hilly or long and fun pass through towns. I talked with an elderly couple in West Bend for 30 minutes. Retired farmers and sweet people. Tomorrow is a long ride- over 100 miles; wish me well..,

Todays ride. As previously stated, a little shorter,
faster and hotter but less hilly
Breakfast is served!
Getting back on the road after breakfast. The bike traffic seemed a little lighter today.
These are 1913 vintage 1 hp motors that drive the old ice cream makers that Beekman Ice Cream uses. I had raspberry today and it was delicious!
At the ice cream stop I also had this exceptional bowl of smoked mac and cheese with bacon. It was a slow couple of miles after that.

  2. That’s why there’s so many riders-the food. I would have ridden through the pain just to eat all that delicious food and drink! The ride is a piece of cake for you I bet. Love the pictures-especially the guy that left the toilet paper! Keep up the great work!

  3. Hey Dave! We’ve been excitedly following your rides, but even more thrilling to follow what you’ve had to eat before, during, and after your daily rides! We think we’ve gained weight just looking at the pictures!! Wish we were there and hope you got your pillow fixed! Next year! Love you!! Smmooooochh! Robin

    1. I have a new Walmart pillow that is great! On the long ride today I drank more and ate less because until my body converts the food to energy, it’s just weight. ❤️

  4. 100 miles – WOW that will be a good day’s work. I am thinking as I am lounging around in my bathrobe, you are probably about a third of the way there. Makes me tired thinking about it. I think I’ll have another cup of coffee and a cookie. I am so proud of you living your life to the fullest. Have a drink on me. Cheers, Ken
