Since I had a short 60 mile ride today, I slept in a bit and hit the road around 08:30. I rode east on Hwy 46 for about 5 miles before turning north to get back to I-94- the easiest way in to Fargo. While soybeans are the dominant crop around here, there is also lots of corn- for cattle feed or ethanol- no sweet corn. It was also interesting to note some of the lakes around here have seagulls, pelicans, herons, egrets and cormorants in them- some of the same bird species we have in the GOM! Not too long after hitting I-94 and starting to ride east, I heard a siren behind me. Then a highway patrol car pulled over in front of me on the shoulder. I quickly checked my speedometer and thankfully I wasn’t speeding! I stopped by the patrol car to see what was going on and the patrolwoman inside asked me if I was ok. I said sure, I was fine. She said she didn’t know for how long I had been riding and wanted to make sure I didn’t need any water or any food. When I said I didn’t need anything she told me to be careful at entrance and exit ramps and to make sure I drank enough water. Now that is a public servant! I rode along I-94 for about 35 miles and after arriving in Fargo went to a bike shop and then the Fargo Brewing Company to wait for my WS host to get home from work. Daily mileage: 61, trip miles: 1,754. Tomorrow, Minnesota!
The road I took to I-94 did not require me to pay strict attention- which is good for me in the morning:

The scenery between Enderlin and Fargo was either corn or soybeans for as far as you could see:

Hey Dave, was that “Marge” who pulled you over on your way into Fargo?
Towards the end of your ride today you are going to cross US 59. Just think, 1500 miles to the Atlantic, or right turn and 1500 miles to the Gulf Coast. Choose wisely!

I think it was Marge’s younger sister. Hmmm, so when the road forks I take the left fork??

By the way, I’m 21 miles into MN and I haven’t seen one of the alleged 10,000 lakes.
