It was 23 degrees when we got up this morning- ice on the bags and in our water bottles- and ice in the water bottles is a treat! We hit the road around 09:30 and it was up and down for the next 3-4 hours. We thought it was going to be pretty flat but ended up climbing 2,700’… and some of the hills were very, very steep.
We went through the old gold mining town of South Pass City, which mostly closed down around 1870. Our destination was Atlantic City, WY- a near ghost town with a population of 57. We stayed at Wild Bill’s in a little cabin and it is lovely! Home made Lemonade and cookies on arrival, cherry pie and ice cream in the evening and a legendary breakfast tomorrow!
Daily totals: 32 miles and 2,700′ of climbing
