After some lovely new oatmeal (thanks again Pat!) we left our little cabin in Steamboat Lakes State Park around 09:00. We rode mostly downhill into a rather fresh headwind, in 50 degree temperatures, for about 30 miles until we rode into Steamboat Springs.
We stopped at the first grill we saw and had big burgers and ice cold local beers. After a great lunch we continued our ride into steamboat. We rode another 6 miles or so and met Janet at the hotel around 1:30 PM.
We dropped off John’s pistol at the FedEx store, dropped off his bike at the bike store and got a box for his Bob trailer. We showered and then headed out for margaritas. We had great Mexican food and margaritas at Los Locos- it was a lovely evening and a perfect ending to an extraordinary ride.
There is no one I would rather do a ride like this than my brother in law John Davis (aka Johnny D, Johnny Pisco and Motor Man). We shared (and overcame) a lot of adversity, saw many beautiful sights and met countless interesting, kind and generous people along our route. It was a truly epic ride through Canada, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and into Colorado.
Daily totals: 33 miles and 1,300′ climbing
