Last night in Galena, IL

We had a very enjoyable day walking around historic Galena, IL. The town is full of beautiful homes and buildings from the 1830’s to the 1850’s- all in beautiful condition. Ulysses S. Grant ran his presidential campaign from a local hotel. Tomorrow we drive to Sargeant Bluffs, where the ride starts the following morning.

We stayed in Carter and Sarah Newtons home- built in 1854

Lots of deer were roaming around the neighborhood.
Breakfast of champions! An interesting (and tasty) Bloody Mary prepared by Otto’s Diner.
This is the route for the week showing the daily miles and elevation gained. I will post the daily map and what my Garmin shows with each daily ride one it starts.
