We headed out around 08:20 after huckleberry pancakes at a local cafe. It was a beautiful cool morning and we made great time riding on undulating paved and gravel roads. We also saw a number of deer including a very large buck.
At one snack stop we noticed clouds of butterflies in the pine trees. It was very pretty. At the same stop Johnny D needed to apply some bag balm to some of his nethermost parts. Since we were on the side of a road I looked out for cars while Johhny lubed up. I called car and he pulled up his shorts but the lady driving by had a big old grin on her face… We both had a good laugh.
We met a 30ish man riding north on the GDMBR on a single speed bike. Jack was a real people person and he passed on many hints for us heading south. We do enjoy stopping and talking with other cyclists we see. We don’t see all that many…
We were welcomed into our campground by hosts Barry and Jane- very friendly and helpful! And Wayfarer State Park has special campsites just for cyclists- which was great because all others were full!
