I slept for 11 hours last night! Then I had a shower, two bowls of cereal with fresh peaches on top, three cups of coffee, two large glasses of water and two slices of cold pizza. My ride today was only 28 miles- (total miles so far 254) I’m “pitching up” to set myself up for a tougher two pass 60 mile ride tomorrow with 8,000′ of elevation gain. I am staying at a Warm showers house tonight- great people (Megan, Ben & Kyle) and we had salmon burgers, salad from the garden, chips and garden fresh salsa and many Deschutes brewery beers! I love this country!

Following the Okanogan river out of Omak to Tonasket. Note how dry and rocky the mountains are compared to the Cascades:
The hot, dry road to Tonasket. I averaged 15 mph going up and down lots of hills- a big thank you to my coach (Michael Hagan, with TrainingPeaks) for whipping me into shape for this ride.
Ride profile: I have gone over three passes so far and tomorrow go over Wauconda and Sherman passes. It will be a tough 60 mile day.
Hi Dave,
So impressed! Praying for you, especially for your safety. As a child camping in the Catskills with my family, age 5 or so, I picked up the pretty black and white kitty I found in the woods. Needless to say, my clothes hung off the car on the ride home, much as yours hung off the bike. Love Mom
