Had breakfast at McDonalds (pancakes, sausage, oj & coffee) and was on the road before 08:00. A nice lady at McDonalds gave me the coffee for free- the first act of kindness for the day! I rode into Idaho only 30 minutes or so after starting and I have to say it looked exactly like Washington- big rivers and lakes, heavily forested mountains and lots of deer and wild turkeys…Had a pub lumch in Sandpoint- what a pretty town that is- right on Lake Ponderey with marinas and pubs everywhere. I rode into Sandpoint on a nice bike path and rode out on a nice bike path- except on the way out of town the bike path turned into a footpath through a meadow and I had to go cross-country to find the road again… A little further down the road, I got a call from Jim & Peggy Taylor- Peggy said they were only about an hour south of me and wanted to meet for dinner! They met me at my hotel in Clark Fork and we ate at a beer garden I saw riding into town (which has a population of 536) and had a great meal served by cute 3rd grade girl cousins. And Jim & Peggy treated me! Life is indeed good. Daily miles: 63, total miles: 524

After a couple of miles the bike path turned into this:
The Pack River delta. I know it is teeming with fish and a gifted angler could have some fun here:
Just wanted to let you know again how much I am enjoying hearing about your trip and seeing the beautiful pictures. I also love how you were able to meet up with Peggy and Jim. Hope today is great for you as well.

Dave,
FINALLY figured out how to follow you on this “blog thing” ( all of your friends are going to wonder about the old man trying to communicate with you that can’t figure out a blog)!!
Man, am I pumped ( pun intended, hey, maybe my skinny legs will get bigger) read from day one through today and WON’T miss another day. Hope you don’t get to tired carrying me along with you, because from here on if you get bored just start talking to me— I’m there vicariously.
Praying for you, bud.
( more than a little jealous😏🍷)

Hey Brother! Thanks for all the great updates and pictures! Epic scenery, cannot believe you are not stopping at some of those fishing holes… You should be eating fish for breakfast not McD’s!

If I had a fishing rod with me I’d still be in western Washington…
