I slept in and then spent the morning visiting with Joel’s mother, Barbara, and Masha. It was a very pleasant morning! When Barbara found out I was riding to Bismarck tomorrow, she asked where I was staying. I told her I didn’t know yet but was waiting to hear from one Warm Showers house. She said that she lived there and while she wasn’t going to be there, I was welcome to stay at her house (her husband was bike touring in western North Dakota). She gave me her address and code to get in the garage and told me I could sleep in any of the downnstairs bedrooms! What an incredibly hospitable and generous family! After they left to go visit Sasha’s mother in Dickinson, I went for a walk and then spent about two hours talking with a Benedictine monk at the Abby. Very interesting…Tomorrow I will try to get an early start as I have an 80-85 mile ride.

Dave,
Good plan, 80-85 miles to Bismarck. Move across ND as quickly as possible. That’ll leave only 200 miles to Fargo. Three more days and done. I love ND but my idea of I-94 across the prairie is drive as fast as you can to get to where you really want to be. We’ve used the word straight, the new adjective is flat.
Crank on.
